Evaluation of a Parent-Child Ward
Evaluation of a parent-child ward
Parent-child treatment is divided into a 3-week diagnostic phase, after which the families are usually released back into the home environment for a certain period of time, and a 5-week therapy phase. After discharge, an outpatient follow-up visit is arranged with the families. This is organized in the form of specific aftercare groups and takes place two, six and 12 months after the end of treatment.
In order to evaluate the effect of this therapeutic approach more precisely, standardized procedures are used to examine child problem behavior as well as parental stress and parenting behavior. The results obtained so far speak for a lasting effectiveness of the short-term therapy. After completion of the therapy phase, a reduction of child behavioral problems and parental stress life was observed.
